Research Bill Might Provide $50 Million

According to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF), Congress will soon be voting on a bill that might provide $50 million in funding for 2016. Congress has graciously included the large sum in the current budget bill for the Department of Defense's (DoD) Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program (PRCRP). In order for funding to be approved, the research bill will need to pass through the House and then through the Senate.

In 2015 the amount made available had doubled the previous year's funding, which had been $25 million. These funds have specifically been set aside for 'innovative and competitive research in cancers...relevant to military service members and their families.' This means the DoD'd PRCRP will directly fund new research that may lead to new mesothelioma treatment options and hopefully, one day, a cure.

We hope these funds will also be used to educate and inspire America with mesothelioma prevention tips. Asbestos - the leading cause of mesothelioma - does not have to be an issue for anyone. This includes military personnel. Why do we continue to allow dangerous substances and hazardous environments to destroy the health of our loved ones?

One day we might be able to live in a country where mesothelioma lawyers are obsolete. If America were to fully ban asbestos products and better enforce testing by certified inspectors, then asbestosis and asbestos related mesothelioma claims would be obsolete, too!

Can you imagine the USA without any types of mesothelioma cancer? Our lives could be free of the sickness caused by the disease. We would never have to worry about the treatments that follow. Nor would we ever waste our time dealing with mesothelioma lawsuits, attorneys or doctors.
